Retreat Details
Beaufort, SC has an impressive writing legacy. Pat Conroy author of bestselling books like The Prince of Tides, South of Broad, and The Water is Wide loved everything about Beaufort and the Lowcountry. He and his wife, novelist Cassandra King both wrote here, and the Pat Conroy Literary Center marks his legacy. Also nearby is the century old Penn Center where Martin Luther King drafted the early words of his “I Have a Dream” speech.
For three days, we will create our own writer’s community for both learning and dreaming about what you might want to write. You don’t have to be a published author or be working on a book to attend—just have the desire to dig deep with fellow women writers.
Each day we will be exploring different writing exercises as well as sharing our work. Kathy Izard is a certified book coach who knows how to encourage women to reach their writing potential. Helen Musick is pastor, writer and teacher who loves spiritual exploration. We will have time to learn, share and create new work. At night, relax and enjoy fabulous dinners with women, like you, who want to improve their work and meet others who love words.
What Writers say about Kathy’s Coaching and Writing Workshops:
Working with Kathy as my Writing Coach has been such a gift. Her commitment to me has been the most valuable part of my writing life.
Amy Saxby, Cincinnati, Ohio
Kathy’s coaching elevated my writing and her practical knowledge of the publishing world made my self-publishing experience less intimidating. Kathy made me feel seen as a writer and author even before I fully believed in it myself.
Tilden Arnold Davis, Charlotte, NC, Author of Reassembled
What Past Participants Had to Say about our retreats:
Women in Wyoming Writers retreat was like nothing I have experienced! It was deep and soulful, and it was joyful and fun!!! Kathy created a safe space where nine amazing women could share their hearts through their writing. She wove in creative times and joyful explosions! I can't wait to go again!
Megan Young, Charlotte, NC
This was my first Women Faith & Story writing retreat that I’ve ever been on, but it won’t be my last. The setting, the women, and Kathy’s leadership cultivated a rich environment for creativity. This experience made me hungry to write, but not only write…to paint, to respond to writing prompts, and create an experience like this for the women in my circle, including my daughters.
Shari Beth, Lexington, KY
